“Tsar Simeon Veliki” Secondary school, Vidin

The school history begins on May 11, 1882, the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, when the four-grade school in Vidin was solemnly declared a full real high school and received the name Skobeleva Real High School.

On January 1, 1890, by decision of the National Assembly, the high school became a state school. In the same 1889-1890 school year, the school was named “Tsar Simeon”.

Today, “Tsar Simeon Veliki” Secondary School is the largest and most modern school in Vidin and the region. An innovative school! A school with long traditions! A school with a vision! A school with a future!

After the large-scale renovation under the Operational Program “Regions in Growth”, the material base of the school has been completely renovated.  Available to our students and teachers are:

In September 2024 a new project for renovation of the Basement level of the school was started.  Within a year the students will have lessons in modern STEM center with three areas: “Green energy”, “Natural science” and “Creative Industries”. The last area is targeting TV, video and podcast production, performing arts and visual arts.

More than 900 students are educated at the school. 65 pedagogical specialists, a pedagogical counselor and a psychologist work with them. Fifteen employees are non-pedagogical staff. The school has 33 classes, of which 1 preparatory group, 12 classes – primary stage, 10 – junior high school, 11 – high school stage.

“Tsar Simeon Veliki” Secondary School offers specialized education after the seventh grade in two profiles – “Humanities” and “Natural Sciences”, which satisfies to the maximum extent the needs of those who have sought development in these areas of science. We educate our students to be tolerant, to have an active civic position. We encourage them to learn, to express themselves, to develop their talents and support them in their growth. We work as a team, and our main goal is the success of our students.

Sredno uchilishte “Vasil Levski” (Kula)

Sredno uchilishte (Vasil Levski High School with professional classes) “Vasil Levski” is a school in which study students from first to twelfth grade. It is in the border town of Kula, Vidin region. The history of our school covers 190 years. It is in the center of our small town. The school has 200 students and 40 employees. At present our team of lecturers includes 30 qualified teachers. Our school is the only one in the municipality. Every day to school and back traveling 39 students from the villages of the municipality.

From I to VII class training is not profiled, and in VIII to XII class – with professional training in “Economic Information Assurance” and a new specialty “Technology of pharmaceutical and perfumery and cosmetics”. The students study business communications, economics, accounting, enterprise management, economic informatics, programming, computer science and others. They study English and German. The school is a member of the Association of Cambridge Schools in Bulgaria and our students receive certificates Cambridge English.

Our students come from different social groups. Many parents are unemployed. Lack of employment, which causes migration of residents of the town and municipality to bigger cities and abroad to improve their lives is one of the main problems that affect our institution due to lack of parental support for our students, as some of the students are grown only by grandparents. There is an increasing number of students who are at risk of social exclusion and who have low expectations and motivation in what refers to success in school.

We also have students with special educational needs. One of our goals is to integrate them fully in school life.

Our school is a place where not only strive to educate our students, but also to be responsible for their upbringing, social and intellectual development. We have a task to motivate them to participate in interesting and useful learning and extracurricular activities to help them develop and grow successful people. The school aims to promote, in cooperation with parents, caring school community that strives to develop every dimension of student: spiritual, moral, aesthetic, intellectual, physical and emotional.
